June 21st was International Yoga Day, and since discovering it many years ago, I practice almost every day. It helps to clear your mind, relaxes your breathing, slows down the fast paced life we’re so used to living, and teaches you how to live in the present moment and focus on the “here and now”.

There are many books written on yoga’s benefits, but what I’ve learned for myself is that you should listen to your body and go at your own pace; that’s when you will truly feel “the moment” in each pose explored. I’ve had the luxury of travelling to three different countries for yoga retreats: Bhutan, Mexico, and Costa Rica. Each country and retreat offered a new style and deeper understanding of the philosophy behind yoga.

Yoga is a life learning experience; it teaches you something about who you are, every day you practice. Namaste!
