Trunk Show at Chicago Dance Supply
Of all of the dancers who attended the Russian Pointe® trunk show at Chicago Dance Supply on Aug. 25, none was more eager to be there than one 12-year-old girl buying her very first pair of pointe shoes.
The girl had very tiny feet for her age, so she wasn’t able to start pointe with the rest of her classmates last year because she couldn’t find shoes that were small enough to fit her.
Luckily, Russian Pointe® team member Megan Bentz brought several pairs of children’s pointe shoes to the trunk show, and after measuring her feet, Bentz put the young dancer in a children’s size 31 ½.
“She just had the biggest smile on her face,” Bentz says. “She was grinning from ear to ear, and she was so excited that she could go up on pointe this fall because we had a shoe that fit her.”
In addition to fitting customers, Bentz also spent time training five of the store’s employees on Russian Pointe®’s fitting philosophy and explaining the difference between Russian Pointe®’s eight different models of pointe shoes.
“It was wonderful to have them here,” says Annemarie Lantz, an associate at Chicago Dance Supply. “I learned a lot of little things that I didn’t really know before.”
For example, Bentz gave the employees suggestions of questions they can ask dancers to figure out the best shoe for them, and she showed them different exercises that customers can do to see if the shoes are too big or too small.
Chicago Dance Supply has seen an influx of customers specifically because they carry the Russian Pointe® brand.
“Business has been really good so far,” Lantz says. “We’ve had a lot of new business because of the Russian Pointe®s.”
Business has been so brisk, in fact, that Chicago Dance Supply added more models in June and July, and now, the store is considering adding the Lumina and Muse models, so that they will be carrying Russian Pointe®’s complete collection.
