Halloween Pointe Shoe Decorating Party
A spooky spirit was in the air at the Russian Pointe Dance Boutique on Sunday, Oct. 28, at Russian Pointe®’s annual Halloween Pointe Shoe Decorating Party!
Children and parents enjoyed decorating pointe shoes with glue, glitter, ribbons and stickers to create unique designs. Some people stuck with the Halloween theme, creating shoes that looked like pumpkins and scary vampires, while others made their shoes more delicate with sparkly ribbons and gem stones.
New this year, attendees also had fun making lollipop ballerinas. Attendees wrapped Tootsie Pops with a piece of pink, purple, blue or green tissue paper to make a tutu, and then used pipe cleaners to make arms and legs. And of course, many kids wanted to eat a lollipop while they worked, as well!
Although more of this year’s attendees were slightly older than in past years, Katlyn Craig, assistant manager of the Russian Pointe Dance Boutique, says the Halloween Pointe Shoe Decorating Party appeals to all age groups. “It’s always a good experience for the kids to come in, especially for kids who are too young to do pointe, so they can feel what a pointe shoe is like and take one home,” she says.
