Fittings at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy Summer Intensive
Russian Pointe team members recently returned from a trip to Connecticut where they provided expert shoe fittings at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy Summer Intensive.
Russian Pointe is proud to be the official shoe of this prestigious program held at both the Westover School in Middlebury, Conn., and at the David H. Koch Theater in Lincoln Center in New York City. During the six-week program, dancers receive training from master teachers from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy and also take classes in Russian language, ballet history, music appreciation and more.
Our team members Tiffany Lawson and Molly Beck were so impressed with the stoic, classical beauty of the historic Westover School. They set up their pointe shoe display in a picturesque chapel, which made the experience even more romantic.
And the dancers, of course, were so pleased to have a real Russian Pointe fitting!
One dancer, Eliana, is from a very small town where she has no access to proper pointe shoe fittings, and she was ecstatic to be trying on real Russian Pointes.
“It was awesome to offer a service to someone who was so grateful and who would had never had the opportunity before to experience the proper fit of Russian Pointes,” Tiffany said.
Molly had the unique opportunity to fit a boy student, Dallin. He looked so happy as he stood on his toes in his Russian Pointes!
Tiffany said it was a delight to work with Yana Volkova of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy.
“Her calm, good-natured spirit and appreciation for Russian Pointe made the whole experience a joy!” she said.
