Discussing Russian-American relations
On Tuesday, June 14, I had the privilege of attending a roundtable discussion at the Chicago Club with the Economic Club of Chicago and the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. Sergey I. Kislyak, the Russian Ambassador to the United States, was the guest of honor at the event, which was focused on developing trade relations between Russia and the United States.
Local Chicago businessmen shared ideas for investing in Russia and Russian investment opportunities in the United States. They also discussed some of the obstacles with developing more trade with Russia, such as differences in legal requirements between the two countries as well as difficulties obtaining visas that make it hard to travel back and forth.
This was the first time I attended a roundtable event with the Economic Club of Chicago, and I enjoyed being able to discuss these important topics with other businesspeople.
Opening a dialogue about trade between Russia and the United States is the first step toward building bridges and improving economic conditions that will help both countries thrive.
